At Rototom Sunsplash, gastronomy occupies a prominent place and is inevitably an important service.
Although the music is a significant part of the festival, the Rototom Sunsplash offers other experiences that are highly valued by the public, such as those offered by the gastronomic services.
The prominance of gastronomy is motivated not only by the fact that festivals, by their very nature, offer a wide range of activities in addition to music, but also by Rototom Sunsplash's obligation to guarantee the safety, health and hygiene of the attendees.
The regulation of public spectacles has been transferred to the Autonomous Communities, which have established their respective rules with regards to, among other matters, the right of admission, which refers to the event organiser's power to determine the conditions of access.
As the OCU (Organisation of Consumers and Users) itself recognises, no regional regulation prevents festivals from including in their conditions for entry the prohibition to enter with food and drink. Moreover, many Autonomous Communities already expressly contemplate the right to prohibit entry with food and drink purchased outside the venue.
