Will I be charged for a refund?
It depends on where your bank account is located. If your account is within the European Economic Area (EEA), the refund is free of charge with no management fees. If your account is outside this area, the refund will be processed via international transfer, and any bank commissions will be borne by the recipient (deducted from the total amount).
Which countries are in the EEA?
The EEA includes the 27 European Union (EU) member states plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway.
Countries such as the United Kingdom or Switzerland are not part of the EEA; therefore, transfers to these destinations are processed as international transfers.
How much will I be charged if I am outside the EEA?
Transfers are managed through Wise or similar platforms to ensure the lowest possible cost. Fees vary by destination and may include intermediary bank charges. You can check an estimate using the wise.com calculator before requesting your refund.
Can I avoid these fees if my account is outside the EEA?
Yes. If you provide a European IBAN belonging to the EEA (for example, by using digital banking like Revolut, N26, or a Wise multi-currency account), you will receive the full refund without commissions, just like a local transfer.
